Course Description

Methods for formulating mathematical models for engineering problems; examples drawn from dynamics, elasticity, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and electro-mechanics; lumped-parameter and continuum models; variational techniques; boundary conditions and their effects on the character of the model; techniques for obtaining approximate solutions; methods for casting models into forms appropriate for solution on digital computers.
